Developing a Machine Learning Solution for Early Detection

The project began with the creation and training of a machine learning (ML) model designed to detect signs of osteoarthritis in cats from video footage. Leveraging our expertise in ML and cloud technologies, we built the model from scratch using Google Cloud products. The Google Video AI and Google Cloud Vision were integral to analysing video content and deriving insights from images, while Google Cloud Storage and BigQuery facilitated efficient data storage and access.

Bringing the Concept to Life with Google Cloud

The comprehensive setup of Google Cloud technologies enabled the seamless hosting and operation of the web application. Google Kubernetes Engine provided the necessary scalability and reliability, ensuring the application could handle varying levels of user demand. Through this setup, cat owners could simply record a video of their pet and receive valuable insights regarding their feline companion’s health condition.

Impactful Results and Early Intervention

The collaboration resulted in a fully functional application that accurately detects the presence of osteoarthritis in cats. This tool provides cat owners with early intervention opportunities, helping them manage their pet’s health more effectively and potentially avoiding unnecessary veterinarian visits.
